Romans 14:17-18 “For the Kingdom of God is not a matter of eating and drinking, but of righteousness, peace and joy in the Holy Spirit, because anyone who serves Christ in this way is pleasing to God and approved by men.”The Kingdom of God, people often wonder what that is. A kingdom is a place that is ruled by a king and the kingdom of God is not just eating, or drinking, or the things that we need right now, or our natural needs but the writer of Romans describes it as righteousness, peace and joy in the Holy Spirit. You can’t get it without the Holy Spirit. You need to have peace and joy. The righteousness that he is talking about is not the freedom from sin or the freedom from faults but rather walking boldly in the righteousness given to us. It is a free gift from the Lord. What an amazing gift. We have imparted righteousness from Christ, though we then decide, because we love Him to have the imputed righteousness which is that which comes from an act of obedience, following Him and desiring to walk in that same righteousness. It is deciding to do what is right before Him in every way.We walk in this righteousness in the Kingdom of God and in His peace and the joy in the Holy Spirit. God wants you to be full of joy and full of peace and to enjoy His righteousness and to walk in a way that is right and pleasing before the Lord. This is God’s Kingdom and so we want to walk in His Kingdom. We want to be exactly those things. So, let us today make an effort to do what is right, to envelope or embrace the peace of God and to not allow the enemy to take or to steal any joy. The Bible says that “no one can take away your joy” (John 16:22)
