The Resistance of the Enemy

1 Thessalonians 2:18“For we wanted to come to you – certainly I, Paul, did, again and again – but Satan blocked our way.”Satan stopping us seems to be a very clear reality in any Christian’s life endeavoring to do God’s will. Paul tells the church in Thessalonica that he really wants to be with them, and tried on numerous occasions, but the devil put a stop to his plans of coming. He was very aware of the enemy and his resistance. When we purpose to serve God in our lives, there is resistance of the enemy. Although, he may not overcome, he may hinder or cause difficulty along the road. If he doesn’t, then we can be sure that we know, that we are no threat to him.Paul knew that it was the devil stopping him, rather than God hindering him, that we read of in Acts 16:4-6. He knew it was the enemy because of the evidence in his heart that he thought it was God’s will for him to go. That is how we know, when circumstances change in our lives, whether it is God or the devil. We know that he may only hinder for awhile, but God will always give us the victory.
