The Truth About Prophecy

Although we readily acknowledge the fact that in the Old Testament God spoke to man by way of prophecy, many people argue and dispute the relevance and need for prophecy today. Considering that each Spirit-filled Christian should be able to hear from God For him/herself as explained in Romans 8:14, “Because those who are led by the Spirit of God are sons of God”. Why then, do we need to have prophecy?

Stringent guidelines to the flowing of the prophetic gift and gifting in the local assembly in services are not quenching the Holy Spirit, but rather God-given order by the Scriptures. As we understand that God is not a God of disorder, we also need to understand that prophecy needs to be monitored and administrated in the local assembly. Remembering that God is restoring all things (Acts 3:21), let us then work towards the purposes of God, allowing the Holy Spirit to restore the fullness of the prophetic to the church, equipping and stirring up God's people to war against powers and principalities.
